Step-by-step guidePlease note: Competition for our funds is fierce and unfortunately we are not able to fund all the applications we receive.
|
Step 1
- Read through the introduction section.
- Check your eligibility before applying.
- Go to the apply area and choose the specific funding section that applies to you.
(Remember to read the information about available funds carefully). |
|
Step 3Once you have downloaded your forms and guidelines, read the guidelines carefully. When you have filled in your application form and checked all the documents you need to enclose, please send them to:
Scottish Arts Council Grants Department 12 Manor Place Edinburgh EH3 7DD
Important points to note:
- Your application must arrive no later than 5pm on the deadline date. We are happy to receive applications up to 4 weeks in advance of the deadline, but are unable to accept late applications.
- If you do not send in all the information we ask for, including all supporting material, we will not be able to process your application and it will be rejected. We will not normally contact you to request missing information/documents, and we will not accept a resubmission of an amended application after the deadline date has passed.
- Please do not address your application to any department other than the Grants Department as this will delay its progress.
- We cannot accept applications by fax or email.
- Your application should be presented in the simplest format possible (stapled or clipped) to make photocopying easier for panel meetings.
- Please ensure that you retain photocopies of the application form and all supporting documents for your own files.
|
Step 4
Deadlines for each section are listed on each page and they may be one or more of the following:
- 2 April 2007
- 2 July 2007
- 1 October 2007
- 14 January 2008
(Please note: that not all funds operate to all of the deadlines listed above.)
Applications are acknowledged within 10 working days.
|
|
Step 5All applications are then assessed by officers at the Scottish Arts Council, with input from a wide range of independent specialist advisors.
All applications will be assessed against the following core criteria:
- our funding priorities (as listed throughout the different funding sections of this website)
- artistic quality
- public benefit/demand
- financial and operational viability.
|
|
Step 6
Officers of the Scottish Arts Council make the final decisions. Major decisions are approved by Council (e.g. Capital applications over £1 million). |
|
Step 7You will be advised of the decision within a maximum of 10 weeks from the deadline date, unless your application is considered under our fast-track process (look for this symbol ) or is a capital proposal. |
|
Step 8You will receive a formal offer letter within two to four weeks of the decision being made.
If your application is successful please refer to the current grant holders section for further information on payments and monitoring. |
We have a fast-track procedure for some funding areas. Where you see this symbol there are no deadlines. Applications can be submitted throughout the year, but must be received at least four weeks before the start date of your project. Decisions are made within four weeks of receipt.
For large grants: we are not currently accepting major grant applications for projects with requests over £250,000.
The Artists’ Work in Public Places scheme is closing. The final date for accepting applications will be 28th March 2008
There are no deadline dates for small grants. Applications for small grants can be submitted at any time throughout the year. Read more in the capital section. |
