Writers’ Bursaries

Assistance to enable published writers of literary work and playwrights, based in Scotland, for a period of concentrated work on their next book or play.  

Minimum £3,000 - maximum £15,000

New Writers' Bursaries

In 2008, responsibility for the Scottish Arts Council's New Writers' Bursaries fund passed from the Literature Department to Scottish Book Trust, as part of its programmes of training and mentoring for writers, the fund will be re-named 'New Writers' Awards'.  The Literature Department will continue to be represented in the assessment and decision-making on applications, but all aspects of the administration and application procedures, including dealing with enquires from potential applicants, will be the responsibility of Scottish Book Trust.  Please refer to Scottish Book Trust website for further information.
