	2007		A Sound Investment - workforce development in music education The Scottish Arts Council commissioned RSAMD to undertake an audit of current training opportunities for musicians and teachers across Scotland. This report provides an insight into the ecology of the youth music sector, strengths and weaknesses of current provision and makes a number of recommendations for informing future policy decisions. These recommendations are not solely specific to the YMI but are aimed at a wide range of stakeholders in music education.

This report, based on data provided by each local authority, describes how each local authority met the Scottish Executive’s P6 target - ‘that by 2006 every school pupil in Scotland should be offered a year of free music tuition by time they reach primary six'.
