Edinburgh International Harp Festival 2006

7-12 April 2006

The Edinburgh International Harp Festival presents a dynamic line up for their 25th Festival, with every continent represented and four Celtic nations in the spotlight. Well-established favourites are featured alongside festival "firsts" and they will provide the amazing range of teaching and performance which Edinburgh festival goers have grown accustomed to. A concert in St Mary’s Cathedral, which includes a newly commissioned work by Edward Harper and performances by Cappella Nova's Canty and the Poozies, will mark their 25 years.  They'll also be celebrating the 75th anniversary of their parent body, Comunn na Clàrsaich - the Clarsach Society. Watch out too for the 'Host of Harps' led by Isobel Mieras. Members of the public are invited to practise the music and join in the event, with the hope of setting a world record for the largest Harp Ensemble.

All events run at Merchiston Castle School with the exception of Saturday evening's concert which takes place in St Mary's Cathedral, Palmerston Place, Edinburgh.

The festival also features courses, workshops and a Harp Makers exhibition.
