The National Association of Youth Orchestras has presented a highly successful Festival of British Youth Orchestras in Edinburgh since 1980. The Festival runs for three weeks in the summer and is open to all youth orchestras and ensembles in NAYO Membership. |
The Festival of British Youth Orchestras in Edinburgh is part of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and the majority of performances take place in Central Hall, Tollcross, although some groups perform at other venues.
17th Festival of British Youth Orchestras in Glasgow
The Festival of British Youth Orchestras in Glasgow has been going since 1988 and takes place in the Academy Concert Hall of the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama.
Festival of Youth Choirs
This year a grant from the Scottish Arts Council National Lottery fund has enabled NAYO to extend the Festival to encompass youth choirs, creating a high quality performance platform for the many youth choirs that are flourishing around the country. 2004 marks the 25th anniversary of the Festival and is therefore a special year to launch the Festival of Youth Choirs

Choirs will present their own exclusive lunchtime or evening, or share an evening concert with other youth choirs, or with a youth orchestra or instrumental ensemble. Participation in the Festival of Youth Choirs is not restricted to NAYO Members.
