StoryLab

6 - 26 October 2007

Anyone can tell a story. Find out how to turn your own words, imagination, memory and ideas into pure story gold. Be inspired by spell-binding performances and find out just what storytelling can do.

StoryLab is a new three week celebration of Scotland’s young storytelling and storymaking talent, running from 6 to 26 October 2007.

The StoryLab interactive website is buzzing with ideas and resources for getting children and young people involved in storytelling and storymaking at home and at school.

Families in Edinburgh will be treated to an action-packed programme of hands-on storytelling, art, music and multi-media workshops, plus inspiring storytelling performances at the Scottish Storytelling Centre on the Royal Mile, and at partner organisations throughout the city. An online showcase, support materials and national events listings mean libraries, community groups, schools and arts organisations can create their own StoryLab event, anywhere in Scotland.

Most events are ideal for 8 - 14 year olds, with opportunities for whole families and younger and older children to join in. The annual Tell a Story Day on 26 October is a great opportunity for everyone to take part in some DIY storytelling!

To find out more and join the StoryLab mailing list, see the StoryLab website, email StoryLab or visit the Centre and sign up.
