Winter Words Festival 2007

Winter Words 2007 is due to take place from 25 to 28 January, and promises to be every bit as successful and exciting as last year's festival.

It will begin with a traditional Burns Supper in the Festival Restaurant, celebrating the life and works of Rabbie Burns. The evening will follow a time honoured form, with a piper, traditional Scottish fare and local whisky.

There will also be a performance of Burns songs and poems with John Scrimger accompanied by singers Linda Ormiston and James Nicol.

The rest of the Festival line up will include two of Scotland's greatest writers - James Robertson and William McIlvanney - talking about their work, as well as an appearance from John Simpson who will be discussing his memoir, and 'An Audience with Ronnie Corbett'.

To help celebrate the Year of Highland Culture 2007, the whole Winter Words Sunday programme will be dedicated to all things Scottish. Kathleen Jamie; Photo: Alan Young

The Sunday programme includes poet Kathleen Jamie and historians James Robertson and Michael Fry who will discuss Scottish identity. The evening will be rounded off with a live Any Questions? event with Richard Holloway, John Swinney MSP and other well-known faces.
