Gaelic Arts Conference report

In May this year, the first Gaelic Arts Conference for ten years was held in Stornoway. The conference saw artists, funders, audiences and stakeholders come together for the two day event, to discuss and debate the future of the Gaelic arts.

A conference report documenting the event, and the range of ideas which came out of it, will be launched at the Royal National Mod in Fort William on 19 October 2007. The report will be also be available from the Pròiseact nan Ealan website from 19 October.

Gaelic Arts Plan

Following the publication of the Plana Naiseanta na Gaidhlig/National Plan for Gaelic 2007-2012, a development plan for the Gaelic Arts is now being created by the Gaelic Arts Strategic Development Forum. GASD is a collaboration of key Gaelic arts organisations working together to strategically develop the Gaelic arts for the future.

At a recent conference in Stornoway, the proposed content of the plan was discussed. If you were not able to make the event, there is still time to comment on the draft plan. You can view the document at the Proiseact nan Ealan and if you have any comments to add, please contact Agnes Rennie, Chair of GASD, c/o Pròiseact nan Ealan, 10 Shell Street, Stornoway, Isle of Lewis HS1 2BS, or email Proiseact nan Ealan. Telephone 01851 704493.
