Celebrate Hogmanay in style throughout Scotland. Each year, thousands of people visit Scotland to join the party and see the new year in with a bang
Hogmanay activities vary depending on where you are in Scotland. Major cities like Edinburgh and Glasgow tend to host street parties with music performances, dancing and spectacular fireworks. Beyond the big cities, you'll find more activities which might include folk singing, ceilidhs or even the swinging of fireballs.

The ultimate Hogmanay!
Edinburgh's Winter Festivals bring a dazzling mix of lights, parties, music, fireworks, dance and street performances.
The Hogmanay spirit takes over the city's streets - literally - on 29 December, when the Torchlight procession, with thousands of torchbearers, winds its way to Calton Hill. |
The Concert in the Gardens, Ceilidh in the Gardens and Royal Bank Street Party brings The Fratellis to their second Hogmanay performance of the night, after entertaining Glasgow's revellers earlier in the evening. Also appearing are Pet Shop Boys, Paulo Nutini, Capercailie and Salsa Celtica before spectacular fireworks light up the night sky from launch sites at Edinburgh Castle and the other six hills throughout the city.
Welcome the new year on 1 January with Edinburgh's Dogmanay at Holyrood Park, join the One O'Clock Run or take a Loony Dook in the Firth of Forth - only for the loony, mad and brave!

Held in George Square, Glasgow's Hogmanay features top bands, DJs and fireworks to welcome the new year. With The Fratellis, Sandi Thom, the Strathclyde Police Pipe Band, Mischief la Bas, Donnie Munro and much more, Glasgow's ready to ring in the new year in style.

Set against the fantastic backdrop of Stirling Castle, Stirling's Hogmanay celebrations feature top musicians and fireworks to see in the new year.
This year, with Deacon Blue counting down to the stroke of midnight when spectacular fireworks will light up the night sky! Also appearing are local starlet Lauren Tilly, a top notch Ceilidh Band and the Royal Burgh of Stirling Pipe Band. |

Aberdeen's Hogmanay has something for everyone with a street party and traditional Hogmanay celebration at the Music Hall.
Headlining the street party in the city's Castlegate and Union Street are Scottish pop legends Wet Wet Wet, along with the Cosmic Rough Riders and the acclaimed Finlay MacDonald Band.
If you don't fancy the street party, why not join Fiona Kennedy at the Music Hall for a traditional Hogmanay party? The entertainment includes top fiddler, Paul Anderson, folk group The Whistlebinkies and George Donald and Steve Robertson from Scotland The What? - guaranteed to be a night to remember!
There's lots to do in the Highlands this Hogmanay, with fireworks in Inverness, a torchlit procession in Newtonmore and further north, a Hogmanay Street Party in Dornoch town square. Visit Drumnadrochit for the Loch Ness Hogmanay Festival from 28 December 2006 to 2 January 2007 with Gaelic workshops, shinty, ceilidhs and more.
In Orkney there's traditional first footing and celebrations in Stromness and Kirkwall.

Scottish Borders - The Land The Light The Locals
Elsewhere in towns and villages around the Scottish Borders, local musicians join family and friends for a festival to celebrate Hogmanay.
