Scottish Youth Theatre, Summer Festival 2008

|
Scottish Youth Theatre receives support from the Scottish Arts Council as a Foundation Funded organisation. |
Scottish Youth Theatre, Scotland's national theatre company 'for and by' young people, is returning this summer with its annual Summer Festival.
As in previous years, the youth theatre will be bringing together over 300 young people from across Scotland to participate in either the two week Foundation Courses, the one week Junior Courses, the three week Intermediate Course or the five week Performance and Production Course.

 |
The Foundation and Junior Course will allow the young people to explore new drama skills and come up with their own work. Participants work with professional directors and with specialist skill tutors to devise, rehearse and perform a new and exciting piece of theatre. The courses will culminate in a performance based on a quote from Samuel Smiles 'He who never made a mistake, never made a discovery'.
The Foundation Course will run in Aberdeen, Edinburgh and Glasgow and is aimed at 12 to 15 year olds. The Junior Course runs in Glasgow and Edinburgh and is aimed at 8 to 11 year olds. |
| Following last year's success of His Dark Materials (described by the press as 'Classy and hugely ambitious production, with a genuinely magical feel and some properly spine chilling moments.') the Performance and Production and Intermediate Courses returns with three full-scale productions. |
