'Can we have more of these inspiring productions?'

TAG Theatre Company is the longest established touring theatre company in Scotland, started in 1967.  TAG was originally developed as the outreach arm of the Citizens Theatre in Glasgow, and was known as the Citizens Theatre for Youth.

The company changed its name in the 1970's to Theatre about Glasgow, and have adopted the intials TAG more recently as their work began to cover the whole of Scotland.  In late 2006, TAG moved back into The Citizens' Theatre and is currently engaged in the process of fully integrating its operations with the Citizens Theatre itself.  This process is expected to be completed by 2008/09 or earlier.

TAG and Citizens' now produce work for both main stage and studio audiences; touring theatre aimed primarily at children and young people for schools and venues across Scotland; a wide range of workshops; an education & outreach programme tailored specifically to serve the local community; along with a Community Company and a YOUNG Co.!

Recent productions from TAG include Ice Cream Dreams, set in 1980's Glasgow when heroin began to wreak havoc amongst the city's poor; and Yellow Moon, a play concerned with constructed realities and a celebrity obsessed society.

[Yellow Moon is] 'brisk, simple and yet so full of imaginative energy that it leaves you feeling as though you've watched a full-length road movie, with added intimacy and intensity.'
The Scotsman

TAG's vision is to enable every young person in Scotland to experience high quality theatre which excites, provokes and illuminates. TAG has worked internationally with countries including USA, Denmark, Japan and Greece. TAG staff are also involved in skills exchanges in the UK and abroad, including a workshop programme in Brazil in 2006 and a seminar in Sweden in 2007.

Upcoming productions include an Autumn retour of Yellow Moon, back by popular demand, and Liar, a new play by Davey Anderson, which tells the tale of two 10-year-olds fumbling their way through the adult world of secrets, deception and - worst of all - the unbelievable truth.
