X Factor Dance Company - 2009 Tour

X Factor Dance Company receives flexible funding through the Scottish Arts Council Dance department

X Factor Dance Company have teamed up with award winning New York choreographer Gerald Casel for their 2009 Spring touring production, Query.

This atmospheric new production is based on Gore Vidal's novel, 'Myra Breckenridge'. The chorerography explores gender, sexuality and identity, and the result is 'a battle of the sexes with a difference'.

X Factor Dance Company is touring this full-length, collaborative work throughout Scotland in January and February before taking the work to New York City for three performances at the Merce Cunningham Studio.

Alan Greig, Artistic Director of X Factor Dance Company says: About 'Query' "Working for so many years, I am always looking to create new and fresh ideas. Bringing in Gerald Casel and his superb dancers has brought in a breath of fresh air for the company. We push each other creatively and we have created something unique, something that neither of us would have created individually. We are looking forward to bringing the new work to Scottish theatres and over the moon for the company to be performing in New York for the first time." X Factor's Education Work "I have been teaching preofessionally since 1986 and feel passionate about the education work X Factor Dance Company provides. The workshops during the tour offer the participants an insight into the creative process of each productin and they help to demystify contemporary dance. We guide students through improvisations, partner work choreographic tasks and, in some instances, the chance to learn the current repertory. The workshops help to build our audience and when students come en masse to a show they bring amazing energy and enthusiasm."
