plan B receives support from the Scottish Arts Council as a Flexibly Funded organisation

Parallel | Parallels

In the company’s first work since 2001, plan B explore the world of parallel universes with focus given to the decisions we did not make existing and continuing in another lateral place with a life of their own. Scientists now know for sure that these parallel worlds really do exist and in other universes there may well be versions of ourselves living completely other lives.

Collaborating with Michael Marra, Christine Devaney, John Harvey and Karen Tennent, Frank McConnell has created an exciting, challenging, innovative piece that will leave us questioning all our choices.

Four exceptional dancers will perform the piece with live musicians (including Michael Marra) creating a beautiful, live musical landscape. Performed in traverse, parallel | parallels is visually and musically unique, blending song, narrative and movement into two co-existing performances.

About plan B

plan B was formed in 1989 by Frank McConnell and Caroline Docherty to explore new ways of creating and presenting dance and theatre in performance. The company has always been committed to a bold and imaginative style which is innovative in its devising and accessible in its delivery.

The company has been led throughout by award-winning choreographer Frank McConnell who was one of the first individuals in the UK to be awarded a Fellowship from the National Endowment for Science, Technology and the Arts.

plan B’s vision is to be an invaluable source of creativity in the Highlands through creating, producing and presenting original dance performances and by promoting participation in dance at all levels and with all abilities.  In April 2007 plan B was awarded 2 year flexible funding from the Scottish Arts Council, allowing the company to create and develop dance throughout the Highlands through a variety of community and professional projects.
