A ‘New Look’ @ Dance House
New Logo, New Brochure, New Classes, New Venues, New Performances, New Professional Opportunities, New Creative Director and New Dance Artist in Residence!

Dance House is delighted to be unveiling its fabulous new look and brochure! The autumn season of classes, performances and special events kicks off on Monday 18 September and there is a great line-up of the old favourites - Belly Dance, Ballet, Contemporary, Hip Hop, Flamenco, Funk, Jazz, Pilates, Street and Tap - alongside many new classes, teachers, performances and special events.
By popular demand, Dance House is introducing partner dance classes including American Smooth, Boogie Woogie, Ballroom Basics and Tango. Only the American Smooth class requires participants to take a partner but for all other classes Dance House is sure that a suitable one will be found in class. All they need now are the men to join in and be the partners!.

The classes have also moved into three fabulous new venues and Dance House is delighted to be working in partnership with Scottish Youth Theatre, the CCA and the Britannia Panopticon Music Hall – the perfect place to learn the exotic art of Burlesque! Other new additions to the programme are the powerful Martial Dance, fun Canadian Step and Feldenkrais Method courses. There is also a selection of classes such as Break Dance, Latin Flava and Stretch & Strengthen where participants can Pay-on-the Day rather than book a full course. |
The new Creative Director has programmed a very special ‘choreographic sleepover’ at the CCA on Saturday 23 September. ‘The Bed’ is by award winning choreographer Angela Praed and will be the first of a new programme of performances and special events called DANCE HOUSE @ LARGE.

Dance House is committed to improving and increasing quality dance opportunities in the city and beyond, and to providing a comprehensive Continuing Professional Development Programme to develop the skills and resourcefulness of dance artists and other arts professionals in Scotland. This season introduces exciting training and performance opportunities and the Friday Dance Cocktail - which brings together a weekly professional technique class, a series of six creative lab residencies and an opportunity for the dance community to come together for informal creative dialogue. |
An important aspect of the organisation’s work is its Outreach Programme, DANCE HOUSE @ YOUR PLACE, which continues to service a wide portfolio of clients from schools, local authorities, corporate training to entertainment for Hen Parties! Dance House is delighted to announce the appointment of Dance Artist in Residence, Natasha Gilmore as part of this programme.

The ‘new look’ comes from recently appointed Creative Director, Karen Wood. 'Dance House is a vital, vibrant and key dance organisation in Scotland which has achieved a lot in its short life, I look forward to building on this success and working with the Board to develop a dynamic future for the organisation.'” Karen Wood, Creative Director.
