Drama and theatre 

Youth Theatres need you!

Are you interested in:

  • meeting new people
  • taking part in workshops
  • exchanging ideas
  • writing
  • dancing
  • music
  • performing on stage
  • designing and making props, costumes and sets
  • working with sound, lights and technical aspects backstage

Then you may be interested in joining a local youth theatre.

From the complete novice to the aspiring Broadway superstar a youth theatre may have just what you’re looking for.

So how do you get started?

Well in the first instance you could:

Check with your Local Authority to see what’s on offer in your area


Contact Promote YT on 0131 313 6180


Visit the websites of the Scottish Youth Theatre, Promote YT or Young Scot as well as the Scottish Community Drama Association

For the more serious amongst you, you may like to consider a qualification in Drama or a related area. Check out the Ideasfactory website for a list of some of the courses available or the National Council for Drama Training.

Scottish colleges offering courses include the Queen Margaret University College or the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama.

So no excuses - get out there, make contact and tread some boards.
