Crafts
Many of us will have our first experiences of making at a very young age, perhaps being taught to knit or sew, or making simple pots from clay in the early years at school. The desire to create objects which can be both practical and are an object of beauty has long been an important part of many cultures across the world.
Crafts encompass a wide range of materials and techniques from traditional to contemporary and are highly innovative in style and design.
Getting involved
Crafts can be studied for both pleasure and/or as a career. Whether it is a weekend workshop on hat making or a four-year degree in silversmithing and jewellery, being able to create is such an important part of who we are and is a fundamental means of expression.
